| PLOT One hundred years in the future... Due to overpopulation and the effects of global warming, sex has been declared illegal on Earth. When a crew of astronauts hear of a distant planet inhabited by insatiable female creatures who exist only to satisfy man’s desires, they decide to take a detour from their routine mission in search of the mythical star system known as the Sex Galaxy. | THE REVIEW From the writer of the Russ Meyer-like throwback PERVERT!, comes something even more outrageous, and even more absurd, it's SEX GALAXY! SEX GALAXY, is something of a different breed of film, it is the first film to have been made of recycled" material. Being hailed as the world's first, "Green Movie", SEX GALAXY is an original film, put together by Davis using bit's and pieces of film's that he found in the public domain from around the 1950s era. An avid collector of these films that are "fair game" for use by anyone, Davis has a vast collection of Sci-Fi, Exploitation, Nudie reeks, and even educational hygiene films. It is these films that he used to create this work, in which he strings footage and clips together to create a plot that is surprisingly coherent, and to breathe new life into the old footage, he has employed a voice cast to re-dub the film. Of couse, SEX GALAXY's dubbing is off and no better than watching an old Japanese Kung-Fu flick, but the over all result, is entertaining and most often hilariously funny! SEX GALAXY's story takes place on Earth, 100 years into the future. In the past 100 years, a lot has change, but there has been no other change than sex being outlawed on our planet. We follow a group of astronauts lead by Grayson, out on a routine plumbing mission and space. But the men, soon decide to take a detour when their desire gets the best of them. The crew ends up in the Sex galaxy, a realm that is pretty desolate, except for a horde of beautiful women, not to mention, their pimp, whom happens to be a robot. To these horny Astronauts, for people coming from a planet in which sex is forbidden, the feel as if they are in heaven, that is except for the youngest crew member, who happens to be in an engagement back on Earth. But none the less, the young guy is smitten by the sex galaxy's goddess of a woman, that is Willa. As you will see the mission to "get some action" isn't as simple as it sounds, as the crew runs into some things, things like a vaginal dinosaur? I'll be honest with you when I say that when I reviewed Davis' writing debut, PERVERT! I was not a big fan, but upon further viewings, it became "ok". But nonetheless, this film, SEX GALAXY intrigued me when I first read about, it. Knowing that it was from the PERVERT! team at Stag Films, and that it was made from recycling old public domain films, I knew it would be something different. And different it is indeed, I believe that most of the film's premise footage is taken from Director Peter Bogdanovich's 1968 trash film, VOYAGE TO THE PLANET OF PREHISTORIC WOMEN, which admittedly, looks just downright awful. But Davis cures the awfulness here, just when you didn't think it was possible. He does so by splicing into the footage, things like old nude loops, and random, sex educational "warning" films, don't ask me how he pulled this off, as I have no clue....but he did. The voice cast bring a variety of styles when giving new voice to the old footage as they tell a story that is brilliantly scribed by the director - in essence it could be compared to MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER or even the more modern Rifftrax - both in format ragging on old films, in one form or another. Just to be able to recycle the old footsge and piece it together to form a plot that makes sense is an incredible accomplishment, but to also make a film from such, that is as enjoyable and hmorous as SEX GALAXY is, an even more amazing feat. At first it may not be a film that you will understand, but once it settles in so to speak, it's one outrageous "voyage". |

| OVERALL
IMPRESSION OF THE FILM When going into this film, I knew what to expect, but never did I expect it to be as good as it is. SEX GALAXY is a film, far from perfect, but in all fairness, it's as close to it as a so called "recycled" film could probably come. If this film sounds intriguing to you in any way, and you get the chance to check it out, do so, all in the name of silly fun! This DVD will be released April 6, 2010 | ||||
